Game on, Decatur

The city is preparing to host the world with FIFA World Cup’s ‘WatchFest ’26’

The countdown is on. In summer 2026, the world’s most-watched sporting event arrives in Atlanta—and Decatur is ready to put its own spin on the celebration.

Enter Decatur WatchFest ’26. The 34-day festival of soccer, music, community and culture will unfold across Decatur’s pubs, patios and the newly renovated Square. Running June 11 through July 19, the free, city-hosted festival is set to offer the ultimate viewing experience for locals and visitors alike during FIFA World Cup 26™.

“Decatur is ready to welcome the world,” says Mayor Patti Garrett. “WatchFest ’26 is a celebration of everything we love—community, great food and music and, of course, soccer. It’s a chance to be part of something global, right here in our own backyard.”

From the first kick to the final whistle, every match of the iconic global tournament will be broadcast in more than 40 official WatchFest venues around the city. Pending FIFA approval, select games will even be shown on a large screen right in the heart of downtown Decatur. Each night, the energy will continue with pre- and post-match concerts featuring big-name acts and local favorites.

And with a MARTA station located beneath the festival footprint, getting to and from Mercedes-Benz Stadium for Atlanta’s eight World Cup matches couldn’t be easier.

But Decatur’s soccer story didn’t start here. From spirited Atlanta United watch parties to Decatur FC’s record-breaking debut season in the WPSL, soccer is already woven into the city’s cultural fabric. Recent investments in facilities like Ebster Field, Legacy Park’s new turf field, and StationSoccer’s expansion at East Lake MARTA further cement Decatur’s role as a soccer city on the rise.

“MARTA is proud to bring fans straight to the action,” says MARTA CEO Collie Greenwood. “Whether it’s WatchFest or the stadium itself, we’re the most convenient way to experience this once-in-a-generation moment.”

As Decatur prepares to welcome thousands of fans from around the world, WatchFest ’26 promises to be more than just a viewing party. It’s a showcase of everything that makes the city special—and a bold step onto the global stage.

More details will be revealed in the coming months at DecaturWatchFest2026.com. But one thing is certain: summer 2026 is going to be unforgettable in Decatur.
