A Stage Built for Wonder

Alliance Theatre unveils Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families

After more than a year of construction, a new kind of stage is opening its doors—and its imagination—to Atlanta’s youngest audiences. The Alliance Theatre has announced the debut of the Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families, a thoughtfully designed space dedicated to year-round programming for children and their families on the Woodruff Arts Center campus.

Kicking things off is an exciting three-show repertory season known as The Underground Rep, a playful nod to the literal dirt that was uncovered during the venue’s construction. From January through July 2026, families can enjoy a rotating lineup of musicals—all set underground—designed to spark curiosity, courage, and connection.

The inaugural season features “Into the Burrow: A Peter Rabbit™  Tale,” “Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed: The Rock Experience” and the world premiere of “The Great Ant Sleepover ” — each filled with music, laughter and life lessons served underground style.

“We set out to build a space where wonder is always in season,” say Jennings Hertz Artistic Directors Tinashe Kajese-Bolden and Christopher Moses. “This exciting repertory model gives families a reason to return again and again—whether for a field trip or a spontaneous Saturday outing.”

With support from the Imagine Endowment, this new stage is designed to be both accessible and magical. Affordable ticket pricing, transportation reimbursements for school field trips, and high-quality streaming for classrooms will help bring these transformative theater experiences to children across Georgia and beyond.

According to research, students who engage with the arts are more likely to excel academically, participate in science and math fairs, and feel hopeful about their futures. The Alliance wants to make sure those benefits are not reserved for a few, but available to all.

“Now that we know the impact arts experiences have on a child’s development,” say Kajese-Bolden and Moses, “it’s up to us to ensure every child has access. That’s what the Goizueta Stage and the Imagine Endowment are all about—making live theater a joyful part of growing up.”

In celebration of this moment, the Alliance has opened an opportunity for the public to support its mission. For a limited time, patrons can name a seat in the Goizueta Stage for Youth & Families, contributing to a lasting legacy of creativity, inclusion, and impact.
