Silent Auction in the Garden

June 24 • 5:30-8:30 p.m.
Wylde Center’s Beer Garden + Silent Auction Fundraiser features some of metro Atlanta’s best breweries and a selection of food from local restaurants amidst beautiful Oakhurst Garden. All proceeds support Wylde Center’s mission of cultivating vibrant green spaces and inspiring communities of environmental stewards. Live music, beer tastings from local craft brewers, silent auction offering vacation getaways, restaurant gift certificates and more! Member tickets are $40/ and $45 for nonmembers.

4th of July Celebration in Decatur
Parade • 5:30 p.m.
Concert • 7 p.m.
Get on your feet and join the Pied Piper Parade as it makes its way through downtown Decatur on July 4. Gather friends and family, ride your bike, walk or skate in this community parade—it’s for anyone and everyone! Parade lineup is at 5:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Decatur, 308 Clairemont Ave. Pedestrians should gather on the lawn, and vehicles will line up in the parking lot.
The parade begins at 6 p.m. The Concert on the Square starts at 7 p.m. in the Community Bandstand and features the Callanwolde Concert Band. Fireworks begin at dark (approximately 9 p.m.). And don’t forget your red, white and blue!

4th of July Celebration in Avondale Estates
Parade • 9:15 a.m.
Concert • 7:30 p.m.
Avondale Estates residents and friends come together to enjoy a full day of 4th of July festivities, including a parade and fireworks at Lake Avondale. Join the parade lineup at 9:15 a.m. at DeKalb School of the Arts; Enjoy hot dogs, drinks and snacks at 5 p.m. followed by a concert at 7:30 p.m. and end the evening with fireworks at dusk. Avondale Estates is truly a blast on the 4th of July.


3rd Annual Sips & Small Plates
August 26 • 7-11 p.m.
Please Join us for our 3rd annual, adults only event at the Historic Solarium in Decatur! Dancing and fellowship with your friends and neighbors to help preserve this amazing facility is the perfect way to wind down from the summer and get geared up for fall. You’ll find wonderful raffle items and the bourbon and tequila tasting tables are always a bit hit! We’ll have more formal invitations coming soon, but for now mark your calendar!

AJC Decatur Book Festival
September 1–3
The AJC Decatur Book Festival is the largest independent book festival in the country and one of the five largest overall. Since its launch, more than 1,000 world-class authors and hundreds of thousands of festival-goers have crowded the historic downtown Decatur square to enjoy book signings, author readings, panel discussions, an interactive children’s area, live music, parades, cooking demonstrations, poetry slams, writing workshops, and more.

Avondale Estates Farmers Market
Sundays, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Sunday, Funday! Get your week off with a fresh start at the Avondale Estates Farmers Market, an outdoor farmer’s market with various local vendors selling fruits, veggies, eggs, cheese, meat, baked goods, prepared foods, coffee, pasta, jam, sweet treats, handmade goods, and more. The market is located in the parking lot of My Parents’ Basement, 22 North Avondale Road, and will be open each Sunday through October 29.

Decatur BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Blues Festival
August 12
The 17th annual Decatur BBQ Blues & Bluegrass festival is set for Saturday, August 12. Once again you can enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of classic Southern barbecue from metro Atlanta staples along with 7+ hours of original live blues and bluegrass music from aspiring and accomplished local/regional/and national acts. The event is located in the heart of Oakhurst. This is a family friendly event that is fun for all ages. Kids 12 and under are FREE. The event benefits the Community Center of South Decatur by supporting educational programs, community events and providing grants to other non-profit groups in the city of Decatur.
